Somaria is a port city that was built for commercial use. The city has one major port in the South-East part of town. It is set up in a grid-like fashion for easy navigation. The town is split down the middle by a river that runs from the North-West through the city and emptying into the sea. The river is wide enough to run ships on and is used to transport materials so the Somarians can export it. This city is the financial anchor of the Roak Fief. Within the walls of the city, nearly any item can be found. One just has to wait longer for certain items than others depending on the rarity and price of the item.
This city is trained to defend itself in case of an attack. There is a longstanding militia that acts as normal citizens within the city. When in fact, many of the working men within society are part of the militia and are extremely competent fighting. The city has fought off many onslaughts. It has gone months without help from the Royal army when it was preoccupied in the North. This city is an outpost and a swarm of information. Many ideas, many rumors, and many stories flow through the city of Somaria making the taverns full and the story-tellers hearty and filled with ale.

After a small pause and gazing down below off one of the stray buildings overlooking the city, Lasr gave a long sigh before slouching over the railing. Quite anti-elegant for a lady, but her arrival into the port wasn't exactly very smooth. Those ruffians best leave her alone or the entire plaza would have stains of the unwanted. But even with those recurring thoughts, she still needed to train herself, it was by mere fate that she ended up here. "..." was all she had to say on the matter.

You look out over the railing and see the beautiful city laid out before you. From the bridge over the river, you are able to see both sides of the city. To the right is the foreigners quarter where generally drifters and wanderers tend to stay. In there, lies a few taverns, inns, and shops of various sorts. To the left is the tenants quarter where the residents of the city live in lavish houses. As you continue staring, a man walks up behind you and bumps you a little bit and continues walking, with your coin purse in his hands.

Lasr never did see that many people atop the buildings and always questioned why that was. The view was so grand and high. But she did catch a view people cross on top the rooftops, she turned her head peculiarly at the small group on the level across from her. She didn't think anything of it just people doing their routine.

The group of people on the level across from you are having a tense conversation. They are trying to whisper, but the seriousness of the topic and the fear they have within causes them to be louder than they desier. You begin to overhear bits and pieces of the conversation.. "What do we do without a king".. "The army, and the dark army".. "Urgoth is recruiting".. "I'm scared"..
A man taps you on the shoulder.

Coming to Somaria was not her something Sata Andagi, soon to be renowned cleric, wanted to do. Rather, her mother had sent her to the lands of Roak after her father got their entire family exiled from Maiga. The gods knew that she wasn't going to the twilight lands of Rold, where a rumored, sickening cult of hybrid vampires lived by night alone. Oh how she missed her homes in Harate shores, where the sun always shined. It was a sorrowful parting she had with her mother, who had taken up work as a cook on a private cruise line. But, not liking the life of a cook, Sata decided that she was old enough to make it on her own, using her skills learned at clerical school, to make a living. So, she made her way to the nearest hospital or medical camp, in hopes of finding any wounded to cure...or even better, a battlefield to come upon. She had heard rumors of a dark power, but that did sound a bit too much for her first journey. Who knows? Perhaps some of her old correspondences, the members of the Combatir Guild were in town?

Lasr takes quick note of the conversation before being awkwardly tapped upon her shoulder. She shifts in a fluid motion almost drunk-like and glances at what had poked her. She unconsciously grips onto her violin case and a part of her dress before completing the entire body turn.

Sata:
As you are walking along the street in the foreigner quarter. More commonly known as just "The Foreign" as you had picked up by ear as you were passing about various groups of strangers. Alas, you come to the river, and as you gaze across it at the elegant houses on the other side. You chance to look up and see a familiar face and that silly old violin case at her side. She then turns as someone approaches her, shes about to draw her weapon.
Lasr:
As you turn, you see an old man. Clearly, he is no more than a mere beggar, with a scraggly beard and a torn cloak. He is holding out his hands. Inside them is a coin purse. "I am terribly sorry miss.. These are troubling times.. I wasn't always a beggar, and I won't let myself become a thief. I was driven out of Stacia, I lost everything, my wealth, my family, all but my life which was scarcely saved. Take it back, and please forgive me."

Being one to do good, and wanting to make an impression, Sata hands the old man 15 gold coins for his honesty, and slips him another five for some information. "I am looking for a battlefield--" She then decides it would be rude to not say hello to her guild mate. "Hi! I wasn't expecting to meet someone like you around here!" She then turns back to the beggar. "Please old man, tell me where I can find a battlefield where I may put my skills to good use. I am in need of employment."

Lasr blinks quickly and turns her head toward the guild leader and to her surprise watching her deposit some money into the old man's hands... was something she was going to do... She was quick on her feet and planned to give some to the elderly figure who happen to remarkably steal her bag. It reminded her of the past where she too had lost everything. However, she lost it over and over and over. But snapping back to reality, she bowed slightly at the arrival her leader. Followed by listening in to what she was asking of the old man. A quick jolt from her mind took captivity of the situation at hand and opened up her own bag quickly and set an equal amount of gold into the old man's hands as well. In addition to dropping some coins (and unaware of the five gold extra), she palmed another 10 tokens and slipped them into possession of her dear leader. One shall not defeat me in kindness! She looked toward the man as well. "I too am looking for the company of battle... Making a living is so hard in such a vainglorious world." she whispered softly between their small group.

The man seems surprised by your generosity. "I don't know what to say.. thank you.. " was all he could manage to say on the topic. "I'm only going to say this once, so ill adress it to the both of you. If it is a fight your looking for, there is a pack of wolves to the north on the outskirts of town that have been taking livestock. I'm sure the farmers would be able to pay you for your help. You should be able to get some nice pelts too. The wolves dwell in the Ansarian forest just north of this town. "Thank you again for your kindess, I wish you both well in your journeys." The man embraces you both and walks away whispering excitedly to himself.. All you hear is "maybe there is hope yet for this forsaken land.."

Before the man can entirely leave their company, Sata follows him for a moment. "I appreciate the information! I was thinking...maybe we could help each other out? Me and my colleague here are new to these lands..." She looked over at Lasr momentarily. "I was hoping we could arrange a sort of mutual business between us. I'm sure you have some other friends around the city who are down on their luck. What's your name? I want to find you again in case I need to know some information... you don't need to worry. I'm a servant of heaven, so all my work is honest." She hands the beggar five more coins. "Consider this a down payment!"

Lasr tilts her head to the side before bowing slightly in gesture for the tips from the man. She turned her eyes away slightly knowing that giving up anymore of her own money would probably starve her for another several days. She waits patiently off to the side and sways gently back and forth, rolling on her heels.

"My name?" he said as if he were surprised you would be asking. "My name is Laski. And you happen to be right, in times like these, people have formed bands in order to protect themselves. I have a band of men and women in both Urgoth and here. Go north to the front gate of the city, I will have a man waiting for you. He will show you the way to the forest. As we have been speaking a few of my comrades have been within earshot. I'm sorry for this rude behavior but in times like these, it is of most necessity. Please do not give this man gold, what you have given me will be enough to disperse through the members spanning this city. I will see that it reaches them. Besides, he is too proud, he will not accept it. If you need to find me, ask my name of any of the barkeeps in town, they will be able to show you where I reside. I am looking forward to this mutual friendship." He smiles as he turns and walks away. Leaving the two adventurers standing alone on the bridge.

Sata smiles as she bows to the man as he leaves. "Now to follow up on our lead. To Urgoth!" The cleric marches out of the city straight away. [Exit]
